Making up the Front Page

Absolutely fantastic to see our tutor's work on the front page of Salisbury Life. Liz and Briony from Olive Training were asked to be the Makeup Artists on a Collaboration shoot with several local businesses by Barbara Leatham Photographer.

So when the April edition of Salisbury Life hit the cafes and shops nearby and we heard that Barbara's photograph was on not only on the front page but inside as well we were over the moon. It is wonderful to see your work in a publication but when it makes the front page then it becomes something special.

Working on a photoshoot is different than applying a day makeup in the salon - there are lots of things for the makeup artist to consider such as the model - their skin type, what they are wearing; is it an inside or outside shoot because for camera work the makeup needs to be different. Traditional day makeup is not enough as light from outside or the flash of a camera will just wash any subtle colour away.

It is very important that the makeup artist extend their training to understand and acquire the additional skills to ensure that the model looks great.
